use & care

DIRECTIONS TO USE

1. Measure the desired quantity of rice with the rice cup and pour it intoanother container for washing. Do not use the rice cooker to wash rice. It will lead to damage of the fluorinated protective layer on the inner pan and the bottom could get deformed, which will in-turn lead to mal-function. Soak the rice in water for about 10 to 15 minutes before cooking for best results.
2. The scale that is marked on the inside of the pan is guide for the water level. To the left of the scale are measurement in liters. To the right of the scale are measurement in cups. For example for 6 cups full of rice (approx 1.0 kg. rice) 12 cups of water must be added to the pan the combine will reach the 1.8 litres marking on the inside of pan. For typical Indian cooking requirement 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of water will result in perfect rice each time.
3. Pour the rice and add water into the inner pan according to the level markings on cups or level markings on pan. Desired water level depends on rice quality and taste demands.
4. Put the inner pan into the main body of cooker only after you have wiped off all the water existing on the outer surface of the inner pan, thermostat and heater. If the pan is wet when placed in to the cooker it may cause a cracking noise as the unit heats up. Gently turn the inner pan to left and then to right in the main body for better contact between inner cooker and heater. Do not let the rice to pile on the sides. Make sure that it is spread evenly on the bottom to avoid bad cooking results such as half done rice.
5. Always keep pan bottom & heating plate clean & dry. Any foreign matter between them will cause the cooker to malfunction.
6. Click shut the outer lid after positioning the inner pan. Make sure that the outer lid is closed tightly.
7. Plug in the power cable to the power socket only when the rice is ready to be cooked. Then push the switch button down to start cooking. If the power cable is plugged while the switch button is not pushed down, the rice cooker will automatically set to keep-warm mode.
8. Do not push the switch button down when the inner pan is empty or the inner pan is not placed in the unit.
9. When the rice is cooked, the cooking indicator will get switched off and the keep-warm indicator will light up automatically. After the cooking indicator goes off, wait for about 15 minutes before opening the covers so that the rice will be good for eating. If you want to eat the rice later, just let it remain in the cooker, it will be in warm mode (upto 60 C, automatically).
10. Cautions for keeping warm: Rice will turn a little harder after keeping warm for a long time in the cooker, so it would be better to add In some water to make the rice softer in case it is kept. Continuous keeping warm over the 12 hrs. may cause change of rice smell.
11. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use. This product is intended for house hold use only.
